Holbrook finds Detective Sergeant Nelson engaged in a very un-policemanlike activity, he is reciting his own poetry at a beatnik coffee house.

Eleanor Curran overhears part of a telephone conversation between two men plotting a murder. She contacts the police, but Holbrook is stymied when she can't identify the men or their intended victim.

A pawnshop is being robbed when Sgt. Nelson and another officer arrive on the scene. Both men are shot, and the thief gets away. Clues remembered by the pawnshop owner and Sgt. Nelson lead to the capture of the felon.

Detective Sergeant Chris Ballard and policewoman Stacey Newcombe, accompany strong willed 10 year old Candy to a Mexican border town to see if she can identify a suspect in her kidnapping. The suspect escapes and Candy goes missing.
